WELCOME TO THE MARINA—PLEASE TAKE A NUMBER

September 6-7, 2026

Ok, so two marinas ago we had to dock ourselves in the rain. Then we had the goofball teenagers, so obviously things come in threes because at the Great Lakes marina they gave us a slip that was again, you guessed it, too small. Keeping in mind as we entered the marina no one answered the phone or the marina radio. We pulled into the first dock and headed to the slip which was not large enough for our boat.

As you can see this is a large marina!

We headed back out of the dock and docked on their T-head which was in the middle of their crazy parade of boats. Essentially, people request boats that were housed inside the storage facility, waiting near the water where the forklift puts it in the water. As it was Labor Day weekend, there were gobs of people waiting with coolers for their boat. There were multitudes of boats all around us which was basically a parade of boats in and out of the marina.

We were in awe of the amount of folks heading out of the harbor and the ones heading back in. To get out of the madness, we headed out for a long walk which took us to Muskegon Brewing Company. Howie stayed and had a beer and I headed back to the marina. It was a hot day so I threw the ball in the water for Bella.

Muskegon Brewing Company - had a wedding party on their top deck.

We did have a lovely sunset and enjoyed a nice dinner on the boat.

Left early on Monday morning for an anchorage in Macatawa, right next to the Herman Miller Marigold Lodge.
