How many places in the world can boast that they have ‘islands for sale’?

Parry Sound is a nice town. The Big Sound marina is in a nice spot with a bike trail near by, a few nice shops, a very nice farmer’s market that we happened to catch on Tuesday morning, August 11.

These look like they might be rental cabins as you head into Parry Sound.

Trudged into town with the wagon thinking that there was a grocery store in town. Alas, no such luck. Being in Canada with no cell service really sucks (too expensive). I did break down and looked at google maps for grocery stores and spied one over a mile away. Figured, what the heck and set off. It turned out to be a large farmer’s market with some really quality veges/fruits, meats, dairy, etc. Filled up the cart and headed home. It was a hot, sweaty trudge back to the boat, but hey, it got the job done.

The evening we got in, we went up for docktails (cocktails on the dock) as there were at least 12 looper boats in the marina. Nice to meet a few new folks as well as see people we have met before.

We went out for dinner at a local spot, Trestle Brewing Company. Sat outside as it was a wonderful evening.

The next morning, we hiked up the hill to the Tuesday morning farmer’s market and got coffee, breakfast and a few other food items. Also bought a lovely lantern for outside. Very quality market with a lot of vendors. Couldn’t believe how busy the place was for a Tuesday morning with young families, middle aged folks and a few older ones thrown in. Working hours seem a lot more flexible these days.

I was able to get a bike ride in (about 11 miles) around the town and on the trails. Really enjoyable to do some exercising in such a beautiful place.

We headed out on Wednesday morning for an anchorage spot around Burnt Island (Beaverstone Bay, Ontario). Wanted to check out the area, do some fishing and swimming.
