WAVES

May 30-31, 2026

Leaving Havre de Grace, it was a choppy mess in the Chesapeake Bay. In the number of days we were moving locations, the Chesapeake Bay was not our friend. Thankfully, the waves were sort of pushing us along until we turned around Turkey Point Lighthouse, heading to Elk river. It was bouncing us around like we were a toy boat in a bathtub. We finally scooted into a more secluded ride heading to the Chesapeake and Delaware canal. It was really enjoyable going past Chesapeake City and watching runners along the canal completing a marathon that actually ended right where we parked the boat that afternoon in Delaware City.

Needless to say, the Delaware river wasn’t being very nice either, so leaving the C&D canal and heading north about a mile, we got tossed around again. Adding to that, serious large commercial traffic that basically said, “get out of our way.” We made it in and settled down to wait for other dear friends to arrive.

I have known Mark Abboushi for about 54 years, so not to compete with Howard, but damn, that is a long time. We have known Stephanie Copelin for almost 20 years. They have been married over two decades and have an amazing daughter, Dahlia who goes to Middlebury College in Vermont. It was so nice to spend the afternoon and evening with them, enjoying a drink and dinner. So wonderful to have these wonderful people in our lives!!
