DO YOU FEEL LUCKY?

They say it is very lucky to get a spot on the Buckhorn lock wall, doubly so if you are 50 foot power catamaran with a 21.5 foot beam (we take up a lot of usable space). So, when we came through the Buckhorn lock and saw all of the boats along the walls, we started trying to figure out our options on where to go next. When the lock master said that a couple of day boats were leaving and we could stay the night, we were ecstatic. It turned out we stayed two nights as the weather was pretty bad on July 21.

We took the dog to the only “beach” in Buckhorn which was a small space that had a picnic table and about 50 feet of shore area. It was big enough for swimming and watching the boats come out of the Buckhorn lock. Enjoyed a nice dinner at The Tankhouse which had a very nice patio overlooking the water and the lock.

Bella and I walked up to the Adam and Eve rocks in between thunderstorms. They are glacial rocks (also known as “erratics”), which are a by-product of the last ice age.

We’ve seen a lot of Blue Herons along the route.

This elusive animal can be found in water, preferably with a ball in it’s mouth.
