BELLA WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK TO THE RESTAURANT MANAGER

August 30-31, 2026

Charlevoix to Leland was a yucky trip, though once we got into Leland the weather subsided a bit. Still spit at us most of the afternoon, but not bad.

Very uneventful docking at Leland Harbor. I brought the boat in and turned to our port so that the power cord was close to the power supply.

We were on the T-head of B dock, the second dock from the top of the picture. Essentially, the T-head is the end of the dock where wide boats can be accommodated.

We wandered around the neighborhood and enjoyed viewing the pretty homes. It was around lunchtime and we were hoping to sit outside as the weather was warm, but not too bad. The only place open that could accommodate Bella had only two tables where they would allow dogs. A couple with their dog was waiting for one of the spots and the other table had just been seated (without a dog). Oh well. Went back to the boat and ate lunch there.

The other loopers had a docktail party that evening though couldn’t get enthused as they were playing Disney music for the kids. Amazingly, there are a few loopers with young children. The “Be Good” boat has two toddlers. Another boat, Boundless has two boys that are older (maybe 11 and 14?). The boys have headsets on and do quite a bit with lines, communication with the captain and the older one drives the boat. Not sure how they are doing the education side of things.

There is a dam in the middle of town that is very picturesque.

We knew there was weather coming in Monday, August 31, but the dock master said he had another boat coming in and couldn’t accommodate us. When we got up the next morning, it was pouring rain. We had already communicated with the boat that was taking our spot and they said they were coming in around noon, so no rush to get out.

We tried to go out to breakfast the next morning, but the one cafe that said it was open was not. Again, struck out. Back to the boat.

There were no other marinas around, so we decided to anchor in Good Bay harbor about 7 miles south. This was a VERY good decision.
