EXERCISE? - OCCASIONALLY

July 9-11, 2026

There is exercise and then there is exercise. Walking the dog certainly counts, but it is a very different type of exercise than going to the gym, riding your bike, swimming, etc. We try our best to get the yoga mats and weights out and get in a workout, but it is truly hard. The day gets away from you pretty quickly, especially if we are moving from one port to another. Captaining the boat can take between 2-8 hours on any given day. Then you add in dog exercise, basic stuff like laundry, cleaning, changing the bed, working on the blog, finding (and getting) groceries, making food, etc. it doesn’t leave a lot of time for working on our bodies. Ok, we could prioritize the workouts, but where is the fun in that?!?

We did swim off of the back of the boat the two nights we were there. Bella thought that was good fun.

Picton Harbor marina was a mellow place. We did get in a workout here-Howie on the boat and me under a tree near the marina office. We didn’t eat out here and that is pretty typical as we create/eat most of our meals on the boat. I like to cook and Howie is a pretty good chef as well. Breakfast can be cereal, oatmeal, eggs, waffles/pancakes, fruit. Lunch is a salad, sandwich or leftovers. Dinner is eclectic, but typically a protein with a salad, asparagus, broccoli, or cauliflower. This can include spaghetti, chicken/apple/gouda salad, fish, chicken wraps, hamburgers, steak, pierogies with mushrooms/onions (Howie’s favorite), pizza, etc.
