ELECTRICITY IS WONDERFUL

During our drive up to Campbellford, we saw these boys jumping into the water from an old bridge.

We went through our first set of double locks (Ranney Falls Flight Lock - locks 11 and 12). Very impressive!

On our second day on the Trent Severn Waterway, I didn’t want to chance not getting on the lock wall, so I had reserved with the city of Campbellford (lock 13) a night on the east wall with power (oh, so wonderful to have power!). One of the city personnel met us at the wall (she said she was not able to help us with lines which was fine with us). She gave us some information about the city, made sure we were hooked up to power and then was on her way. Very efficient.

We had a nice lunch in a local restaurant and then walked to Dooher’s bakery as it is a popular local attraction. We also took Bella down below the dam and waded in the water whiling throwing the ball in various water shoots that Bella rode down.

Just a side note, for those of you who have lost power (probably everyone at some point), you can certainly appreciate what it means to not be able to use the TV, turn on lights, watching the refrigerator for ruined food. Ok, not having power isn’t too bad as we have a generator and when I want to cook something, we can turn it on. I think it is more a matter of conservation-you have to watch the use of power lest the batteries run down.
