SMALL TOWN LIVING

July 15-16, 2026

Packed in homes along the route.

We stayed at the Hastings marina which is just past lock 18 on the Trent Severn waterway. It was lovely spot that had a little beach in close walking distance. We did walk into town for a few provisions, but ate all of our meals on the boat. Friends had recommended the Italian restaurant near the marina, but we had plenty of food so didn’t feel the need to go out. As we were walking back to the boat, we saw an ambulance and a police car go by. Getting closer to the marina, we saw a woman lying on the ground with EMT’s working on her. It turns out she was hit by a car just minutes before.

Bella enjoyed ball throwing at the beach. It was a pretty laid back evening. We got up early the next morning for a head start on Peterborough, Ontario. which is 37.5 miles from Hastings. We had some bridges to go through, but not locks. Plan to stay three nights in Peterborough. That ended up being not a good idea.
