PLACE TO RELAX

Solomons Island has a lovely and quaint feel to it like we hit the relaxation jackpot. It feels like a fishing village and was very walkable. We headed into town for lunch with the dog and found a nice restaurant on the water where we could sit outside. Lots of information placards on the waterfront talking about the oyster boom of the 1860’s when a cannery was built after the Civil War. This helped spark an economic boom making the island a hub for the Chesapeake Bay seafood industry.

Solomons Island was also known for shipbuilding, especially wooden dredge boats. During World War II, the U.S. Navy established the country’s first Naval Amphibious Training Base.

Spring Cove Marina has a nice pool, but it was too cold to swim so I borrowed their courtesy car and ran some errands-groceries and alcohol, the life blood of a looper!

Spring Cove marina is a very nice spot. Pretty landscaping, nice people and in a good location.

Spring Cove marina had a really nice pool, unfortunately, the weather was not cooperating so we couldn’t use it.

It’s pretty sweet when a marina has a courtesy car! It is rare, but when it happens, you take advantage of it.
