BAIE FINE: COME FOR THE ROCKS, STAY FOR THE SKINNY-DIPPING

I keep saying how amazingly beautiful Georgian Bay is, so I know I am being redundant, but this area is beyond beautiful. Howie and I keep saying that we have to come back here and stay for a month or two. The weather is surreal in August - 70-80 degrees with cool mornings and nights, but warm enough during the day to swim. The water is crisp, but refreshing. There are so many inlets, bays, channels, and coves that you can find a spot where no one else is around.

When we anchor we use an app called Anchor Pro that shows us how the boat is moving during the night. We can sleep better knowing that it will alert us if we do too much movement. This might seem like a crazy amount of movement, but it actually looks pretty good.

I got on our raft and paddled from the boat over to the shore where I found lots of small rocks to put in our keepsake box. Bella would swim over to where I was looking at rocks, drop her ball and paddle off to get it. Howie went out fishing and we had a marvelous time.

Need to have my geologist friend Chris identify all of these rocks.

Had a relaxing evening on the boat, made dinner and watched a meteor shower. As there is no light pollution the stars are bright and clear. It was difficult to leave this anchorage.

Before leaving, we took the tender over and parked it on a dock so we could hike up to Topaz Lake. It is a remote spot that is pristine and beautiful. No one else was at the lake so Howie and Bella had a swim before we headed back down. Met a couple (looked to be in their 50’s) portaging their canoe and gear a number of miles to Threenarrows Lake. They also had a dog with them (better them than me).
